A fragile calm descends on Lebanon tonight as a 10-day ceasefire with Israel comes into force. Announced by Donald Trump, the truce comes after weeks of relentless cross-border strikes and intense Israeli bombardment across the country. The fighting has had a devastating impact on the country, with close to two million people displaced from their homes. More than 2,000 people have been killed while thousands of others have been wounded. Close to two million people have been driven from their homes in the South, in one of the country’s worst displacement crises in years. Diplomatic efforts to secure a more lasting peace continue.
