Al Aqsa Friday prayers: Israel restricts Palestinians from reaching mosque

Hundreds of Palestinians are gathering at the Qalandiya checkpoint near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, hoping to enter East Jerusalem for the first Friday prayers of Ramadan at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israel has announced that 10,000 Palestinians will be allowed to pray at this sacred site, but entry requires an Israeli permit. Only children under 12, men over 55, and women 50 and older are eligible.

Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh reports.
